For those of you who would rather hear a more nuanced answer, I'll be happy to provide it for you!

Ultimately, ChoPro is a story I'm designing to be (in part) a vehicle for social commentary about American culture. Cultural commentary is so deeply entangled with political commentary that it's impossible to properly untangle them both and provide one without the other. So, yes, lots of political themes will be discussed and explored using the story's narrative as it's vehicle. Socrates would be so proud uwu.

However, cultural commentary will not be the primary focus of the story. First and foremost, I want the story to be about personal growth and romance. At the heart of this story are the characters and their designs. My main goal is to have my audience fall in love with the characters and root for them as they grow and develop. The political stuff will be taking a backseat.

Regarding the political topics in this story, here are my goals:

• For certain topics, I would like to present both sides of certain arguments to ensure the issue won't be presented as black-and-white.
  • That being said, certain topics are NOT worthy of being represented by both sides. Simply put, I will not be playing devil's advocate for genocidal ideology.
• I don't want the story to be "preachy".
  • This may be difficult to avoid at times, but I never want my audience to feel like I'm lecturing to them. To me, the story's flow is far more important than trying to preach to the audience about a specific topic.
  • Simply put, I want to prioritize crafting a good story with good characters over exploring political themes.
• I don't want ChoPro to be propaganda.
  • I mean this in the sense that I don't want this story to call for specific and direct political action. I won't tell you who or what to vote for.
  • That being said, I can't promise I won't be biased. If you've read the demo, you may have already seen some of my biases. "Biased perspective" and "propaganda" are not the same thing.

As time moves along, my goals for this story may change. The cultural/political commentary also may vary in frequency depending on which character route the player is exploring.

All in all, political and cultural themes will be addressed in this story, and that's how I want it to be. If there are certain topics that you are sensitive to and need to review a content warning, please see this FAQ post.
